Dvanta Innovation Labs Case Study

Simplifying Enterprise Deployment with Version-Controlled Docker

How Dvanta Innovation Labs solved multi-container orchestration, heterogeneous OS execution, and zero-configuration customer onboarding for autonomous QA testing.

Executive Summary

Zero Manual Configuration, Repeatable Customer Deliveries

DvantaQA360 is a Dockerized QA platform delivered as two coordinated components: a QA Engine and a Frontend Dashboard. The product packaging was designed to make customer deployment repeatable without requiring customers to manage Docker networking, image names, or runtime environment variables manually.

The Challenge

Enterprise customers operate on distinct host systems and require predictable container setups without operational friction:

  • ✕Customers use different operating systems (Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Ubuntu, RHEL).
  • ✕Two separate Docker images must always execute under the exact same synchronized release tag.
  • ✕The QA Engine requires headless browser capabilities (Chromium/Playwright) in customer host environments.
  • ✕The Frontend container must establish an internal network connection to the QA Engine without host port exposure.
  • ✕A missing or misspelled image version tag should fail cleanly before any container creates a partial broken installation.
Prior Result: Manual docker-compose edits, broken networks, and high support ticket volume.

The Solution

DvantaQA360 uses separate Linux and Windows packages. Each contains an OS-specific installer, a remove script, a small config/.env file, and a README:

  • ✓Single Variable Configuration: The customer sets one single setting—DQV_VERSION=1.0.1—in config/.env.
  • ✓Automated Manifest Verification: The installer validates both Docker Hub image tags before any container operations.
  • ✓Dedicated Network Isolation: Automated creation of the isolated dvantaqa360 Docker bridge network.
  • ✓Pre-Configured Internal Routing: QA Engine runs HEADLESS=true on port 7070; Frontend wires internally to it.
  • ✓Clean Host Exposure: Dashboard binds directly to host port 3500; customer opens http://localhost:3500 immediately.
Delivered Result: Predictable 2-minute customer deployment with zero Docker networking headaches.

Interactive Operator Guide

Step-by-Step Installation And Usage Guide

Follow these simple steps: download the package for your OS, unzip it, verify the version, run the installer, and access your QA platform at http://localhost:3500.

1

Download the Windows ZIP Archive

Download Windows ZIP

Download the official distribution archive directly. Save it to your desired installation directory on your host machine.

Package: DvantaQA360-Windows-1.0.1.zip
2

Unzip the Package And Inspect Structure

Extract the archive. The extracted directory includes the OS-specific installer script, removal script, version config file, and README:

Expand-Archive DvantaQA360-Windows-1.0.1.zip -DestinationPath . cd DvantaQA360-Windows-1.0.1
DvantaQA360-Windows-1.0.1/
install.ps1— Automated installer and validator
remove.ps1— Clean container teardown script
config\config.env— Contains DQV_VERSION=1.0.1
README.txt— Quick technical cheat-sheet
3

Set or Verify Version in config\.env

The installer controls repository names, network names, internal ports, and runtime environment. The customer only needs to configure DQV_VERSION:

# config/.env
DQV_VERSION=1.0.1

Note: Changing this single value to any valid semantic version tag (e.g. 1.0.2) instructs the installer to pull and deploy both matching Docker images automatically.

4

Execute the Guided Installer Script

Ensure Docker Desktop is running, then execute install.ps1 via PowerShell:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install.ps1
Installer checks manifest, pulls images, sets up network, and boots both containers.
5

Access the Live QA Dashboard at http://localhost:3500

Once the installer prints [ OK ] for both containers, open your browser:

http://localhost:3500
DvantaQA360 Web Console
6

Teardown / Clean Removal Script

When Needed

To safely delete DvantaQA360 containers, dedicated network, and local product images without uninstalling or altering host Docker:

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\remove.ps1
PowerShell 7.x Console
DvantaQA360 Log

PS C:\DvantaQA360-Windows-1.0.1> powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install.ps1

Official Troubleshooting Reference

Quick resolutions to the 4 standard deployment conditions documented in the DvantaQA360 Customer User Guide.

Scenario #01Self-Healing Guide

Docker is not running

Condition: Docker Engine (Linux) or Docker Desktop (Windows) background daemon is stopped.

Resolution: Start Docker Desktop on Windows, or execute "sudo systemctl start docker" on Linux. Verify with "docker info" before running the installer.
Scenario #02Self-Healing Guide

Requested image tag is unavailable on Docker Hub

Condition: The tag in config/.env does not exist on both salesdvanta/dvantaqa360 repositories.

Resolution: Check config/.env and ensure DQV_VERSION uses valid N.N.N format (e.g., 1.0.1) and that matching tags are published on Docker Hub.
Scenario #03Self-Healing Guide

Port 3500 is already in use by another host process

Condition: Another local application or web server is currently bound to 0.0.0.0:3500.

Resolution: Identify the conflicting process using "netstat -ano | findstr :3500" (Windows) or "lsof -i :3500" (Linux) and free port 3500 before starting.
Scenario #04Self-Healing Guide

Existing DvantaQA360 named containers conflict

Condition: Containers named "dvantaqa360" or "dvantaqa360-frontend" exist from a prior deployment.

Resolution: The installer script automatically stops and cleans prior named containers before starting a new version. Alternatively, run remove.ps1 / remove.sh first.
